This is a hands-on course that will use cemeteries to explore the African American communities of Madison County (past and present), as well as issues facing those cemeteries today. It is part of a larger, western North Carolina-wide project called the Cemetery Remembrance Project.

We will meet starting on 2 August in the Ramsey Center for Appalachian Studies on the bottom floor of Renfro Library (enter from the parking lot on Bailey Street).
